At A Glance
I have been SO blessed in my life. I have known Jesus Christ since I was in high school. My walk with God has been an extraordinary experience. The two areas of my life into which God has primarily guided me to invest are music and children. I entered Gospel music ministry as a junior at Pennfield High School performing with the Gospel folk group His Witnesses. While at Albion College I performed with the duet Monty and Michelle. After six years of involvement with youth and music ministry God led me into a career of public school education as teacher of vocal music. Thirty years later God continues to inspire and lead; Outstretched Hand Initiative is a non-profit corporation inspired to meet essential needs and enrichment opportunities for youth. Â
This website will highlight those ministries to which God has called me to serve.

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Partnership
One of the significant attributes of all the missions into which God has called me in my life is teamwork. Both at Benton Central Jr/Sr High School and at Holt High School we built something incredibly special by learning to encourage, love, and support each other. We became "Family." We developed a belief that we could achieve something exceptional together; and we DID! Together we can ALWAYS achieve FAR more than any one of us can achieve on our own.
Outstretched Hand Initiative will reflect the Hands and Feet of God, meeting essential needs of primarily young people in our communities. Is there anything as wonderful as the laughter of children? We can share from our mutual blessing overflow to help foster those smiles and laughter; and faith in the God we serve. How exciting to think about what we can achieve together.
When I was walking through the creation of Outstretched Hand Initiative I expressed to my mom that while I was going to be faithful to what God was calling me to, I really didn't see how I was equipped to be the one to enter into this Initiative.
"How many friends do you have on Facebook, Monty?" she asked. "About 2000" I said. "Do you know them all?" Mom went on. "Yes, Mom, I cleaned my friends list recently. I know them all." "Do they all know your heart? Your love of God and kids?" " I would hope so," I said.
"What if HALF of them decided to support your ministry with $20 per month? Could you meet the needs of children with $20,000 per month?"
She smiled. I caught the vision.
As in all the other missions in my life I cannot achieve much by myself. However, if there are those who would like to be part of this "family" WE TOGETHER CAN MAKE AN ENORMOUS IMPACT on those who need it most.
